July meeting

The start of the July Nature Walk did not go well.   The leader failed to find the start of the path, but with patience and understanding all was revealed.
8 members and one grand-son, then enjoyed a stroll along the canal and across the meadows at Fish Lake.
A buzzard was very obliging with very close views, wren, blue tit, and moorhen with chicks were also seen.   There were a number of butterflies, comma, meadow brown, and peacock on various flowering plants, the names of which escaped most of us.
The walk ended with a cup of coffee in the World of Water, most welcome!!
The next meeting is on 27th September at Eyeworth Pond.

There is no August meeting.

The June Nature walk

The June Nature walk was a little disappointing both in terms of the number of members and the number of species of birds seen.
Two of us enjoyed a walk around Pig Bush.   The birds were scarce we did seen some Stonechats a few pipits (meadow), starlings crows and the like.
We also saw some orchids which I think were Southern Marsh.   In places the heather was just beginning to bloom.
The weather was kind to us it stopped raining as we started walking.
The July Meeting is at Fish Lake Romsey.  Meet at Fish Lake  Meadow Road, off Cupernham Lane Romsey on the 26th July 10am.
