November Bird Walk

November Bird Walk

Ten hardy birdwatchers enjoyed a morning walk at Testwood Lakes. The light was not too good, with cloudy skies, but we managed to see/hear 30 species.
We had a good view of a goldcrest whilst walking through the woods and later heard two blackcaps along the path to the hides.
There were widgeon and tufted duck on the lake in front of the far hide as well as heron, cormorant, lots of coot, moorhen and a quick glimpse of a fox at the back of the lake.
On visiting the second hide we were rather disappointed not to see any waders but we had a good view of a green woodpecker feeding on the grass by the sand martin bank.

Our next walk will be at 10am on January 30 at Blashford Lakes.
