25th Jan Calshot

6 Members braved the very cold January weather to enjoy a bracing walk at Calshot. We walked along the spit and then along the marsh. A fir tree with large cones was discussed but no name decided on. We saw 23 different species of birds, The highlights being Kingfisher, Pintail duck, Curlew and Brent Geese, Widgeon and Teal ducks, and a flock of Blacktaild Godwit. As we walked back to the cars, there at our feet was a Sanderling. It is a long time since I have seen one that close. The February Meeting is at Blashford Lakes. The March Meeting is cancelled as it is Good Friday!!! Brigid
