27th January 2012 Blashford Lakes
The January walk took place at Blashford Lakes. It was a bright sunny morning, with very little wind, although a little cold. Ten members enjoyed an interesting walk. We saw about 34 different species mainly water birds, of which the highlights were Potchard, Pintail, and Golden Eye Ducks.
Graylag and Canada Geese.
In the Woodland Hide we saw Lesser Redpoll, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Siskin, Nuthatch.
We also saw Grey Squirrel, Snowdrops, Mistletoe and Daffodil.
The memorable moment was listening to the Song Thrush singing in the sun.
The next Meeting is on February 24th at Eling. Meet at the Mill Pond by the Pay box.
