29 January 2010 Meeting

The Bird watching group met at Eling for the January meeting. We had 15 twitches!! It was a damp and windy morning. Unfortunately the tide was rather high so waders declined to appear, but we did see some widgeon, blackheaded gulls, and a shellduck on the water. On the broadwalk two herons in flight were spied, and good views of another in a stream. A pair of mute swans were on the mill pond. There was some confusion as to what a pollydishwasher was (pied wagtail) and a dunnock being a hedge sparrow.
It was agreed that the next meeting should be on the 26th February at Blashford Lakes. I understand there are 2 mobility scooters available, but these have to be reserved beforehand.
